At 18 years old Nando took to the void with his aunt and uncle to scavenge from abandoned ships and war-torn cities, looking for items to sell to the highest bidder. While illegally working through an abandoned Marine drop-ship Nando finds a very intricate and valuable dagger. After 4 years, when Nando is 22, Lightbeam the ship his aunt and uncle acquired needs substantial repairs and is out of action on 0507 - Nexus for the foreseeable, so Nando joins Niebla Negra and heads to 0506 - Raxus. His aunt and uncle however gave him 2 ship shares in Lightbeam as an incentive to come back when the ship was fixed. He never came back.

For the first 4 years Nando learns the tricks of the trade, including Astrogation, to assist in longer jumps.

At the age of 26, Nando is considered established in Niebla Negra and through his astrogation skills and close working relationship with El Gigante's' pilot, Sombra he learns how to pilot and becomes El Gigante's' co-pilot. While resting on 0506 - Raxus Sombra get's Nando involved with a gambling ring, he becomes adept at bluffing and general gambling as well as carousing.

In Nando's final term in Niebla Negra he is nearly killed during a dogfight in which he was gunning. While the experience gained him valuable skills in space combat, specifically Gunner, a stray slug pierced the ship and his right torso, piercing his lung and exposing him to the vacuum and radiation of space for a few seconds before a comrade pulled him through an airlock. After the fight subsided he received medical care, but the wound left him with lowered endurance, strength, and dexterity.

This was the end of his organised piracy days but due to his exceptional performance in Niebla Negra he was awarded Cr100,000 (minus 50% of his medical fees) and a Ship Share. Niebla Negra pay for his travel back to 0507 - Nexus for him to find his aunt and uncle...
